Aurrigo, which designs, develops and builds a host of autonomous vehicles at its Advanced Engineering Centre in Coventry, UK, has supplied a £250,000 (US$339,000) fully autonomous and electric shuttle to Solihull council, as part of a passenger trials currently being delivered at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre).

British autonomous transport specialist Aurrigo has sold its first Auto-Shuttle to Solihull Council in a deal that will involve the machine being used at the NEC. The £250,000 autonomous electric shuttle sold to Solihull will initially be used for a four-week test on a one-mile pre-mapped section of road at the major exhibition centre near Birmingham before being considered for other ‘first and last mile’ transport services in the region.

Coventry-made driverless bus starts real world trials in Solihull

Solihull has become one of the first places in the UK to see driverless vehicles take to its roads with a Coventry-made autonomous bus. Solihull Council has become the first local authority in the country to purchase its own fully electric autonomous shuttle from Coventry-based Aurrigo, which it will initially be trialling at the NEC over the next four weeks.
