Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: Airside global field team (attachment to Gatwick)
Hours: Full-time
Salary: Competitive (Overtime + deployment bonus)

About the role:
Aurrigo is a leading international provider of smart airside solutions and automotive products.
Aurrigo designs, builds and deploys autonomous vehicles in the UK, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America. Aurrigo deploy autonomous vehicles in real-world environments and specialise in first and last mile transportation of goods, cargo and people.

We’re looking for autonomous vehicle safety operators to join our operations team, reporting to the Operations Manager. You’ll primarily be working at airports in the secure area after security search as well as some of our non-aviation projects e.g. on public city streets or private land such as leisure facilities.

Aurrigo is based in Coventry, and you’ll spend some of your time at HQ but expect most of your time to be spent on customer sites, primarily Gatwick Airport but these could be in the UK or Europe, and on occasion at our deployments in Singapore and the USA. The job will demand a lot of travel, but we’ll make sure that there is time spent in the UK as part of a rotation, and at home to keep a good balance. All travel and accommodation is fully paid, along with all expenses, and a deployment bonus depending on the deployment location and length of deployment, this will be explained at interview and as part of any offer letter. You’ll work a full time 38 hour week, but this could include early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend work.

You will be fully trained to operate the latest in autonomous vehicle technology, including our autonomous pods, shuttles, and the aviation equipment which is where you’ll spend most of your time.

What you will do
As an autonomous vehicle safety operator (airside), your typical day would be:
• Working at one of our airport partners
• You’ll pass through staff security to the airport airside environment.
• Perform any routine maintenance and perform a daily or monthly safety check before setting out. You will also ensure the vehicle is clean and presentable.
• With reference to the work plan and daily briefing, you’ll be responsible for monitoring an autonomous baggage vehicle as it performs operations around the airport. This might include driving the airside roads, picking up passenger bags, loading an aircraft, or performing other tests alongside colleagues from the engineering team.
• You will record daily running data and reporting back to the project team.
• You will work in close partnership with stakeholders from the airport, ground handling agents, airlines, and other project partners.
• As well as monitoring autonomous driving, you’ll be responsible for manually driving the vehicle around for engineering, testing or other purposes.
• Support customer and stakeholder demonstration events

What we require from you
• Ability to gain a full airside security pass which involves police and security service vetting.
• Current and full UK Licence with a minimum of 5 years driving experience, no more than 3 penalty points and no prior disqualifications or prior offences for dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit, etc.
• Access to a car with appropriate business use insurance.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to perform well under pressure.
• Perform with a high level of concentration over long periods of time.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge, e.g. how to change a wheel.
• Ability to travel and stay away from home for 2-3 week periods.
• Basic MS Office skills, e.g. MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.

What we prefer from you
• Previous airside experience for a ground support agent, airline, or airport.
• Previous experience driving e.g. forklift truck, pallet loaders, taxi, bus, HGV etc.
• Interest in technology, computing, or automotive.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
